Springer Creek Forest Products is situated in the Southern Purcell Mountain Range in South Eastern B.C. in the heart of the beautiful Slocan Valley . The mill is located on the southern shore of Slocan Lake , less than a one hour drive from Nelson, Castlegar and Nakusp.
Springer Creek and predecessor companies have been carrying on logging and reforestation activities in the area for over 40 years. Springer Creek Forest Products is an extremely environmentally aware company, and not only strictly follows sound logging and silvicultural practices, but also makes it a policy to only purchase private timber from companies that are also carrying out activities to government standards.
The Springer Creek wood basket is made up of the typical “Kootenay Mix” which is a wet belt combination of S-P-F (30%), Fir/Larch (30%), Hemlock (27%), Western Red Cedar (10%) and White Pine (3%). The logs are of high quality and have the potential to yield high value items over and above the conventional CLS dimension grades.
One of the strengths of the mill is the ability to produce wides, clears, high percentages of J-grade and Select Structural, Lamstock and high quality 1” boards.
Also an asset is the ability to change species quickly and on short notice in order to respond to market demands.
