Location
Springer Creek Forest Products is situated in the Southern Purcell Mountain Range in South Eastern B.C. in the heart of the beautiful Slocan Valley. The mill is located on the southern shore of Slocan Lake, less than a one hour drive from Nelson, Castlegar and Nakusp.
The favourable climate in the area is conducive to growing healthy vigorous forests made up of virtually all interior commercial softwood species (see wood basket overview).
Timber Licences are held over a variety of areas encompassing the East and West Kootenay as well as the Arrow district.
Springer Creek and predecessor companies have been carrying on logging and reforestation activities in the area for over 40 years. Despite continual harvesting, there is very little logging visible from the valley floor. The timber supply is good with new plantations coming on strong in order to replenish harvested areas.
Springer Creek Forest Products is an extremely environmentally aware company, and not only strictly follows sound logging and silvicultural practices, but also makes it a policy to only purchase private timber from companies that are also carrying out activities to government standards.
